Remember the days of imagination? Of innocence and discovery? The days of playing house? And acting as though you're the director of this particular pretend game?
You'd tell others what to say, as if they had no mind at all, or just because your idea was better than theirs, and they're willing to listen to you. You'd complain, "No! Don't say that!" "Don't do that!". You'd plea sometimes with what you thought was unintellegant, and obnoxious of the other pretenders. You tell them to test your idea hoping they would just go along with what you were saying.
You would get frustrated, and sometimes give up on what was impossible, which is, being the director of ignorant nuisances. So you would lay down your crown of being King of Pretending, but only for a moment. All the while you evolve a plan that satisfies.
Do you remember? All those times, of pure happiness?
Now you can see, that the director of pretending, now directs his own life. Living as a testimony of his childish dreams, now leading those behind him, setting an example for the followers he'll receive. But he'll find that not all are pursuadable. Not all are willing to do as their told. And he'll face the same frustration, and evolve a new plan, until he is satisfied.
This is the life of the Director of Pretending.
